FLYATLAS 2 (flyatlas2.org) uses RNA-Seq to answer the question “Where is my gene of interest expressed in Drosophila melanogaster?”. One can search by gene, category, tissue or tissue-expression profile, and more detailed information is available for compartments of the midgut. Results are presented on the basis of gene or transcript, with separate data for male and female adult flies, and for larvae. Micro-RNA genes are also included.

The facility is the result of a project in the Dow laboratory at the University of Glasgow, supported by the BBSRC. The work is described in papers in the Database issues of Nucleic Acids Research for 2018 and 2022.

The original RNA-Seq data have now been reprocessed against version NCBI:GCF_000001215.4 of the Drosophila reference genome, which includes annotations from FlyBase Release 6.54 (December 2023).
